Health and Medicine Internship in Ghana.

The improvement of health service delivery in Ghana, especially the health of women and children has being emphasized and placed on a high agenda especially the quality of reproductive health. The prevention and reduction of communicable diseases and ineffective delivery of health servicesare also being considered and fostering partnerships that lead to improved healthcare.

If you plan an internship in a particular field of health care, we arrange to place you in a relevant department of the Ghanaian hospital. To ensure that you receive maximum experience and help in your chosen field. Health care service providers in Ghana often work with limited resources and offer services to low-income populations at minimal cost so local health care professionals appreciate your presence and the extra pair of hands to assist them.

Intern’s work may include but not limited to providing education about basic health and nutrition, physical therapy activities and stretching, organizing and offering companionship. A key attribution of any internship in this type of placement is cultural exchange. This may mean exchanging ideas and life experiences. Some of the specialist areas are described below.

Nursing:
For example, if you're interest is nursing, we have a number of departments who would appreciate your help. This is an excellent opportunity to gain valuable experience in your field in a different way where practices may differ considerably to what you're used to.

Optometry:
If you're planning on going into Optometry, there are few hospitals that have an optician department where they conduct various eye tests. They serve patients with prescribed frame and lenses. Here you will be able to observe and assist.

Dentistry:
Most dental departmental hospitals are equipped with fairly modern dental Chairs, dental X-ray Units, Etc. The hospital attends to all dental needs of their patients.
This would be an excellent opportunity to gain a valuable experience in your field in a different culture where practices may differ considerably from what you are used to in your home country.
